The robbery was peaceful, but the Louvre’s security was under heavy fire. According to the latest reviews, 35% of the rooms in that section of the museum were without surveillance cameras, revealing a significant security flaw. The thieves did not get to insure the stolen jewels from the Louvre. Because of the French laws that consider national museum collections as state property. This means that in such cases the French government, not an insurance company, bears the cost of the loss.

Police investigation and continuous inquiry

French police began a comprehensive investigation right after the theft. They were able to draw significant deductions from the DNA that was located on a helmet. The gloves left behind at the targeted location. The newest footage revealed the criminals utilizing a service elevator to get away and then speeding off on motorcycles. The law enforcement agency has described the crime as “theft by an organized gang with violence” and has assigned over a hundred officers to hunt the criminals down.

Moreover, if the thieves identified, the Lord’s jewels may never show it again. They can transform into little stones and sold as diamonds on the black market. However, the Louvre continues to operate, with the exception of the Galerie d’Apollon, which is still close for security purposes.
