The outstanding Spanish film-makers duo, Los Javis, consisting of Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, have disclosed their break-up after a 13-year love affair. Nevertheless, they still keep in touch through their movie-related professional alliance. The announcement is made when they are still engaged in the shooting of their new movie, La bola negra.

In the Spanish film industry, Los Javis have always been a revelatory duo. They came to know each other via Facebook, both had the same aspiration as actors respectively. Their personal life shared together transformed into their artistic life, plus the project was developing. The action of the movie takes place in three different years of Spanish history – 1933, 1937, and 2017. One of the newborn actors is musician Guitarricadelafuente in his first role, plus other excellent actors.

The collaboration of Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi has produced a series of successful projects. Their first directing experience was with the movie La llamada, which was an adaptation of their own stage play. The pair later created several TV shows like Paquita Salas, Veneno, and La Mesías, which achieved a lot of admiration and accolades. Besides, they were seen judging in famous talent shows such as Mask Singer and Drag Race España.

Los Javis empezaron a vivir juntos en 2012 y se convirtieron en una de las parejas más poderosas del mundo audiovisual español. Su historia tuvo public attention when Ambrossi proposed to Calvo in 2017 during a movie premiere in Madrid. Since that point, their relationship was interlaced with their careers to such a degree that they co-founded a production company called Suma Content. Which is now a major player in Spain’s fiction scene.

The romantic relationship is over but the professional bond is still strong. They will keep on sharing creative projects and upcoming commitments. Both Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi have said that being together is what keeps them getting motivated and being productive.

Los Javis’ break up is a report that partnerships change but the strong friendship and professional respect can remain. The two are still inspirations in the Spanish filmmaking world, constantly pushing the limits with their original vision and storytelling.
